What is a Flowchart?

A flowchart is a diagram that uses conventional symbols and connecting lines to show the sequence of steps in a process or system. It’s one of the most commonly used diagram types.

How to make a flowchart using AI

Accessing Lucid AI

Open a document and select the Lucid AI icon from the top of the primary toolbar on the left side of the page. Type a request into the text-entry box or select the microphone icon to use voice-to-text.

Generating a diagram

In the text-entry box, type a detailed description of the diagram you want to generate. To provide more context, you can attach one or more images, PDFs, or text files using the attach file icon below the text box.

Editing your AI diagram

Iterate on the diagram manually or by describing changes in the text-entry box. You can continue iterating on a diagram, even after you’ve started a new chat, by selecting the diagram and entering a prompt into the Lucid AI panel.

Adjusting your layout

Use assisted layout to organize content into swimlanes, Containers, and Frames with one click. This feature automatically aligns objects for a clean, structured workspace.

Ask Lucid AI questions for help

With Lucid AI, you can ask questions about the document. In the text-entry box, type a question about the document or about how to use Lucidchart. Lucid AI will provide an answer or it may ask follow-up questions.
