Transform your workflow with custom APIs
Reading time: about 3 min
It’s clear by now that efficient collaboration can make all the difference in your company’s success. In fact, according to a 2023 survey conducted by Asana, 79% of workers at collaborative organizations feel well-prepared to adapt to emergent business challenges—four times higher than weak collaborators. There are many elements that go into making an organization collaborative, including building a foundation of documentation, embracing conflict, and more.
The importance of efficient tech stacks in collaborative organizations
Building a cohesive, efficient tech stack is another valuable way to cut down on lost time and promote collaboration in your org. The right tools can optimize how you work, unlock efficiency gain, and ultimately build a resilient business. On the flip side, working with too much software and too many apps can ultimately be counterproductive. Data proves this: 28% of workers are very or extremely overwhelmed by the number of different productivity applications used at work
To truly save time and optimize processes, your apps and software need to work together. Integrations satisfy this requirement. For example, integrations with popular apps like Google, Atlassian, or Microsoft ecosystems allow you to maximize your time by not having to copy work you’ve already done or repeat updates and questions you’ve already communicated.
But full integration isn’t possible without one thing: custom APIs.
How Lucid’s APIs can help you incorporate visual collaboration into your workflows
Lucid’s comprehensive API documentation allows you to tailor your workflows and maximize your productivity. Whether you want to build custom solutions for your team’s needs, bring visualization into your workflows, build advanced workflows for your teams, or make Lucid work for you by incorporating your existing resources into Lucid documents, we offer endless support to teams looking to leverage our platform.
Let’s break down the different custom APIs offered by Lucid.
External embed
Embed Lucid documents in an external location for easy access and a streamlined workflow. The document will be view-only but can be configured to automatically update whenever changes are made to the original document. Users can also interact with the Lucid document by zooming in and out or panning through the document.
Internal embed
Embed existing assets, like links, videos, or diagrams within your Lucid documents for added context. These will be embedded in a thumbnail and can refresh and resync with the original data source.
Cards
Lucid Cards provide a way to visually create and track tasks across the entire project workflow. You can assign stakeholders to work, set deadlines, and visualize how these tasks interact with each other. Ideate and brainstorm with your team, then put those ideas into action by pushing tasks directly into your task management system of choice. That way, the changes are always reflected and both platforms are always up to date.
Custom shape libraries
Quickly create custom shape libraries to standardize best visualization practices. Then, add shapes from the shape libraries you’ve installed onto the canvas as you create documents. Plus, shape libraries can be published and shared through Lucid’s extension marketplace if you’d like to distribute what you’ve made.
Get started building on custom APIs with Lucid
Plenty of resources are available for those who want to learn more and get started! First, you’ll need to unlock the developer tools.
To start building on the REST API, go to the OAuth 2.0 client creation guide for help creating a client, then visit the Using OAuth 2.0 section in our REST API technical documentation to create an access token needed for API requests.
To start building on the Extension API, see “Getting started” in our Extension API technical documentation. For examples of extensions built on the Extension API, check out Lucid's public GitHub repository.
If you’d like to publicly publish and promote an app on the Lucid marketplace, sign up to be a technology partner! Potential partnership benefits include co-marketing support, sales and support enablement, listing and premium placement on the Lucid integrations marketplace, collaboration with Lucid’s product team, and more.
