A common way for Lucid employees to use Lucid is to plan out trips. Visualizing trips helps people get organized and finalize plans, especially with friends and family, since it’s easy to share one board and have everyone give input. Whether Lucidites are traveling the world or vacationing close to home, they use Lucid to brain dump, map out road trips, and help make decisions.

Lucid’s AI capabilities have even helped employees gather and synthesize ideas as they plan trips. “My friend group had many ideas for a vacation,” Kelly Nikolai, associate solutions consultant, says. “We needed to synthesize a lot of information at once, and we thought that Lucid was the best place to do that.”

To further help with trip planning, some Lucidites use Visual Activities to narrow down their decisions and decide on priorities. For example, Miriam Merrill, associate content marketing manager, used a visual activity in Lucid with her family to decide top priorities for visiting attractions at Disney World. Whether it’s getting married or moving across the country, plenty of Lucidites experience major life changes—and they use Lucid to help plan out and manage these events.

A popular way to use Lucid is for wedding planning. Lucidites have created Lucid boards for everything from planning bachelorette parties to visualizing the full layout of their wedding venues. Lucid is also great for creating to-do lists, centralizing communication with members of the wedding party, and even helping people make choices on tough decisions. “I have used Lucid to help me pick my wedding dress,” Jess Howard, senior customer success manager for APAC, says.

Many employees have also used Lucid when they’ve moved. They’ve created boards to help visualize where to put furniture in new apartments, plan out how to decorate rooms, and keep track of things as they prepare ahead of time for a major life change. “Lucid was helpful for figuring out which size of moving truck we’d need,” Carlene Zarkou, associate payroll manager, says. “We were able to plan ahead of time how to best fit all of our furniture in the truck.”

Conducting home projects

Lucid isn’t just helpful for major events; there are multiple ways Lucidites have been able to use Lucid for their everyday life at home, from comparing products before making a purchase to planning what kind of flowers to plant in their front yard. A Lucid board not only helps people visualize spaces and experiment with their plans, but it can also help save them time, money, and potential headaches.

For example, some Lucidites use Lucid to map out their lawn sprinkler systems and calculate water usage. Bryant Hodson, senior manager of user experience, used Lucid when he was remodeling his home: “I used it to plan the construction work,” he says, "visualizing the sequence of tasks and mapping their dependencies on other tasks.”

Cindy Katz, senior implementation specialist, has another fun way she uses Lucid: “We’re using it to compare ceiling fan options for our house. It’s easy with Lucid because we can add images, sticky notes, and links. Plus, with emoji reactions, we can upvote our favorite options!”

Tracking tasks and activities with family

With its bright sticky notes and family-friendly features, Lucid is perfect for planning family activities—and for kids to use, too (with permission of their parents). For example, John Gunther, senior Salesforce administrator III, has used Lucid to help his son with homework: “My son had to write a simple app for his programming class in high school. He was struggling with it, so I helped him figure it out by mapping out the app flow in Lucid.”

Margaret Kamerath, senior manager of engineering, uses Lucid’s technical capabilities to plan trips she goes on with her family. For a recent trip to Disney World, she created an annotated map of the theme park complete with data linking and conditional formatting to plan out the visit.

For other employees, Lucid is a summertime staple. “Every year I use Lucid to gather data and plan summer camps and swimming lessons for my kids,” Jenna Merithew, senior manager of payroll, explains. “I also use it to plan what we’re going to do each day.”

Cal Martin, customer trainer II, uses Lucid to keep track of household chores. “Living in a neurodivergent household, it’s common for my partner and I to let daily chores build up over time, making them super daunting tasks,” he says. “In Lucid, my partner and I created a Dynamic Table of daily chores. Once we complete the chore, we add an emoji. We also included weekly, monthly, and quarterly tasks that we take care of as needed.”

For employees who are pursuing their writing passions, Lucid is commonly used to plan out plots for short stories or novels. “I use Lucid for storyboarding my various writing projects,” says Heather Holdsworth, senior manager of order management. “I love the infinite canvas for this. Instead of having to click through multiple tabs like in traditional word processing/outlining software, I can keep all my research, timelines, visual references, and scene drafts all in one place.”

For another unique case, one employee created a schematic diagram for custom features for his car. “The best personal use case I have found for using Lucid is to handle a wiring diagram where I’m tracking information provided from Ford on F350 schematics to add custom features to my truck,” Matthew Rumery, staff front-end engineer, says. “The priority when adding these new features was to limit the splicing of existing wires that can compromise the longevity of the truck. I opted to run new wires into existing connectors, creating a factory look.”

“Lucid was essential to helping me plan, research, and purchase all the items needed to complete the task,” Rumery explains. “I was able to mock a wire diagram and know that all the connections would work without any guessing. This made it easy to tie into the existing puddle lights, add a new wire, and add some side step lights without any cutting of existing wires. I could track and manage complex circuits and build new wiring harnesses using the map I created in Lucid.”
